Chicago Summer Street fairs
This past weekend, while taking-in the summer annual Chicago street-fairs, I noticed one thing- it was cold! Brrrrr….like late-fall cold or a summer day in San Francisco! As we ladies longed to parade in our newest maxi-dresses, we found ourselves in tall boots, wraps and white sweat suits. This is NOT fair in the fashion world. I am now a true believer in global warming. 100 degrees 5 days ago and 60 now! I ask you, “how does one even begin to change over their closet when you need to pull from all seasons at any given moment?”.
Do we relegate ourselves to wearing the jacket, rolled up sleeves and jeans look for a long 6 months, moving right back into the fall sweaters we packed away hoping for the summer norm? Or, maybe we should all move to a balmy place to experience the summers of yester-year. I for one have grown tiresome and am looking forward to wearing all my adorable summer frocks and bikinis if even for one time use.
As a former boutique owner, I can’t imagine the hardship shops are once again enduring after recently fighting back from the recession. I continuously see sales on summer items even though we haven’t begun to wear our summer ensembles, let alone buying a new one. Please Mother Nature, can’t you give a little bit here? I long to eat gelato, sit on a deck sans blanket, and watch my flowers grow while the sun rests on my bare shoulders….
